![]() The Annual England Athletics Regional Awards for Clubs and Volunteers from the North Eastern Counties, were held at the Riverside Cricket Ground in Chester Le Street, home of Durham Cricket Club on Wednesday 7th October 2015. Local Club and Support Officer John Stacey was MC for the night, where over 40 volunteers from the region attended, and the first cheer of the night came when it was announcedthat Morpeth Harriers & Athletic Club had been voted Club of the Year. On behalf of the club, President and former Commonwealth Games Marathon Champion Jim Alder accepted a framed Certificate and Glass Trophy depicting the achievement from England Athletics Board Member Neil Costello. The club had been nominated for the award in respect of their rise to prominence as a prolific performer in many areas and disciplines, and largely for their outstanding victory in the English National 12 Stage Men’s Road Relay in April after many years of trying.
