Laura Weightman claims great 1500m win, Morpeth Harrier, Laura Weightman put in an impressive performance to win the women's 1500m at the Anniversary Games at the Olympic Stadium in London last night (24th July). when he posted new figures of 15m13s, as he finished a very worthy sixth in a top class field, at Race 3 of the Sale Sizzler 5k Road Race Series, held in Wythenshawe Park, Manchester on Thursday 23rd July 2015. There were some truly excellent performances by athletes from Morpeth Harriers

from Beadnell to Alnmouth on Sunday 19th July 2015, once again attracted an entry of over 1,000 runners, including twenty seven from the ranks of Morpeth Harriers, who provided the event with both the Male and Female category winners. Carl Avery led the 997 actual finishers home, in a time of 75m42s, which gave him a ninety three second cushion over his nearest rival Kevin Jeffress of Sunderland Harriers, with Tyne Bridge Harrier Tom Charlton, a further ninety seconds adrift in third place. Fourth place went to Morpeth Harrier Ian Harding, who clocked 79m16s. Emma Holt of Morpeth Harriers was an emphatic winner of the Ladies race, finishing 38th overall in 89m36s, finishing nearly two minutes clear of the visiting Amy Green of Keighley and Craven, with South Shields Harrier Georgia Campbell finishing in third place, a further two and a half minutes adrift. Other prominent finishers from Morpeth Harriers in the Men’s race were Paul Waterston, who finished seventeenth overall in 84m56s, and in his first race as an Over 50 Veteran Man, was second in his category, Mark Snowball who was 20th overall in 85m51s, and Tony Lewis 28th 87m53s.
