CENTENARY TROPHY CAN YOU HELP ? This is the Overall trophy for the NECAA Cross Country Championships. We won it last year and, fortunately, have won it again this year. We need this trophy back for engraving. HAVE YOU GOT IT ? MORPETH HARRIERS WOULD LIKE TO WISH ALL OUR CLUB MEMBERS AND ATHLETES A VERY MERRY XMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR ! The Xmas Handicap race due to take place on Tuesday 22nd December, has been cancelled.
Morpeth Harriers duo Nick Swinburn and Carl Avery both produced excellent performances in Brussels, on Sunday 20th December 2015. They were competing in the very high profile Lotto Cross Cup Meeting, in the Senior Men’s event, run over a distance of 10.5k. Nick was representing Great Britain, and Carl was running for the North of England for the very first time, also his first ever representative appearance. Swinburn finished a superb fourth in the 64 strong field, only 34 seconds adrift of Ethiopian winner Faisa Tasama, with a time of 32m53s. He was first Briton home, and Avery was third Briton home in 14th place, also posting a superb time of 33m24s. Both athletes were very pleased with their runs, as was North of England Team Manager Steve Gaines, himself a former Morpeth Harrier. Photos courtesy of Steve Gaines |
