heidi takes honours on festive fun night

Thanks to the 27 of you who turned out to run in the 5k Christmas Handicap at Lancaster Park.
It was great to have five young athletes, Heidi Wilkinson (13), Luke Thompson (10), Mason Gaylor (12), Jacob Thompson (13), and Jack Dhawar (12) joining the fray and these kids can run!
Some excellent runs with seven of you hitting the 80% plus mark and several more in the high 70%’s.
Top of the %age chart was Gavin Bayne with 84.14% closely followed by Joe Dixon and Ian Armstrong.
Fastest on the night was Joe Dixon in an excellent 15.33, closely followed by Thomas Prentice in 15.59.
For the ladies it was Heidi in 20.28, followed by Jane Briggs in 23.07.
First home was Heidi Wilkinson who passed long-time leader Jill Bennett by the school on the 2nd lap and she held off the fast finishing Jamie Johnson and Luke Thompson for the win!

Mike and I managed to get all of you over the line within 4mins 20seconds, so not bad considering some of you didn’t have a lot of recent form – BUT my 20p each way on Coach Vicky Thompson went down the drain!
Good atmosphere back at the Club Hut where the buffet was demolished, prizes dished out and special thanks to Linda on the lead bike, Mick and George on timekeeping, Scaifey, Gordon Dixon and Bill Tilley on marshal duties and Mike Steven on the laptop – a good team effort!!
