Nine Morpeth Harriers were in competitive action at the fifth and final
Indoor Standards Meeting, held at Gateshead College, on Thursday 17th March 2016. Best of the nights performances from the club, came in the Field events, and Under 17 Women’s 60m, where Charlotte Pickering-Pruvot saw an improvement of 3cm on her Indoor Shot Putt, where she produced a best of 11.16m, to win her Under 17 Women’s age group contest, by a margin of 88cm over her closest rival Kate Carmichael of Middlesbrough, and Jessica Young-Rogers, who produced a lifetime best on the track. In the track events, U13 Girl athlete Amy Lott was also in fine form, especially in the 60m Hurdles, which she easily won in 10.66s, which although was a little adrift of her best, was still good enough for a comfortable victory. She was fourth fastest in the flat 60m, with a best of 9.12s. Morpeth Harrier Hannah Brown was fastest Under 17 Woman in the 60m Hurdles, and over two heats of the flat 60m, managed a fastest time of 8.63s, which placed her seventh fastest on the night in her age group. As mentioned earlier in this report, fastest in the Under 17 Women’s age group on the night was undoubtedly Morpeth club colleague Jessica Young – Rogers, who produced a best of 8.20s over her two heats, which for her, was a lifetime personal best. Young-Rogers made a second attempt at the distance on the night, but clocked 8.25s, which was also excellent, and proved to be second fastest time in the age group. Morpeth Harriers other Under 17 Woman in action on the night was Katie Hilton, who over her two heats of the 60m, managed a best of 8.49s, which made her fifth equal fastest on the night.
