The third meeting of the 2025 North East Grand Prix series, was held at Jarrow’s Monkton Stadium on Wednesday 18 June.
Sixteen members of the club were in action, with a number of excellent performances being achieved, including some new personal bests. The main events were the one-mile races, of which there were six, with the winner of the fastest of these, receiving the Stan Long trophy for his efforts, that honour went to Birtley’s Adrian Bailes, who posted a winning time of 4m16.9s. Two Morpeth Harriers were in action here, Under 20 Man Bertie Marr, and Ethan Bond, who finished fifth and thirteenth, posting respective times of 4m24.66s, and 4m33.97s. In the third fastest mile, Under 15 Boy Mason Gaylor finished an excellent second in 4m52.61s. Under 17 Men Ben Moll and Harry Shaw of Morpeth finished respectively in seventh and twelfth place, posting times of 5m00.96s, and 5m13.06s. New signing Darcey Tullis marked her Morpeth Harriers debut since her recent transfer from North Shields Poly, by finishing third in the fourth fastest mile, posting a time of 5m12.76s. She was leading the race up till the final thirty metres, only to be passed by two male Sunderland Harriers Seth Hughes, who had been an early leader, and Jude Graham. Other Morpeth Harriers in action in this event were Molly Roche (16th) 5m33.90s, and Emma Tomlinson (18th) 5m58.13s. In the fifth fastest mile, Morpeth Under 15 Girls Zoe Tomlinson and Heidi Wilkinson finished third and fourth, in respective times of 5m34.13s, and 5m36.51s. Morpeth Under 17 Woman Charlotte Marshall finished tenth in the sixth fastest mile, in a time of 6m12.07s. Under 15 sprinter Charlie Townsend, enjoyed a personal best winning victory in the second fastest 300m event, posting a time of 42.89s. In the second fastest 400m event, Senior Man Alistair Douglass finished second in 51.88s. Morpeth’s Jason Dawson took victory in the third fastest 400m, posting an age group personal best time of 57.71s. Under 20 Man sprinter Harrison Scott finished third in the fastest 100m event, posting a time of 11.44s, which was only a mere fraction adrift of the leading two Gateshead Harriers Dylan Love and Josh McKeown. Morpeth Harriers Under 17 Woman Hammer Thrower Alexandria Hodgson was a clear winner of her event, throwing an on the night best of 50.95m. Comments are closed.
