In his first competitive outing since becoming a Morpeth Harrier,
former Gateshead Harrier Joe Armstrong ran a brand new excellent personal best
of 15m34s in the Middlesbrough 5k Park Run on Saturday 17th October 2015.
Armstrong, the son of former Morpeth Harriers sprinter Neil,
who was a prolific member of the clubs Men’s Track
and Field squad in the late eighty’s,
when they competed in the British League,
is currently completing his period of team suspension
following his transfer, will no doubt be a very vital asset
to the Morpeth Under 20 Men’s squad, and hopefully the Seniors.
Morpeth’s Rob Hancox set new figures of 17m37s
in Newcastle’s Exhibition Park, where he finished eleventh.
Also running in Newcastle were club colleagues Paul Banks and Daniel Melling,
who both set new figures of 18m42s and 19m01s, when finishing 26th and 35th.
At Druridge Bay, Morpeth Harrier Tim Miley finished
third in 18m42s, a new best for him on the 5k circuit.
