Posting a finishing time of 79m36s, Morpeth Harrier Alistair Douglass finished fourth in the
Run Northumberland Half Marathon, held in Ponteland on Sunday 17th March 2019. Other Morpeth Harriers taking part in the event were James Johnson (18th) 86m19s, Paul Bell (34th) 91m33s, Hannah Rank (71st) (8th Woman) 98m51s, Arjan Piet (204th) 116m42s, and Shuna Rank (269th) (7th O/50 Woman) 127m54s. In addition, there was also a 20 Mile Race being run at the same time, where four Morpeth Harriers took part. Leading the quartet home was Carl Donaldson, who finished eighth in 128m43s. Other Morpeth finishers were Lorna MacDonald (18th) 141m40s, who was first Woman home, Jilly Bell (80th) (4th O/45 Woman) 172m53s, and Claire Hiscock (175th) (15th O/40 Woman) 223m13s.

I’m curious as to why finishing 4th and 8th were reported on prior to someone finishing first?

Lorna's win in the 20 mile ladies' race should have been given greater prominence in this report. Grouping her in with 'other finishers' looks like an afterthought. Comments are closed.
