The 2017 English National Cross Country Championships
Despite the late withdrawal of leading athlete Nick Swinburn due to food poisoning,
Morpeth Harriers Senior Men still managed to win a handsome set of Silver Team medals,
at the Saucony sponsored English National Cross Country Championships,
held at Wollaton Park in Nottingham on Saturday 25th February.
Led home by Jonny Taylor, who took an early race tumble,
which left him very much soaked in mud from head to toe,
they only lost out for Gold Medals to Southern Club Tonbridge AC,
who won the 12k Championship for the very first time, by a mere four points.
Despite his fall, Taylor courageously battled on to finish a well accomplished eighth,
The only other team medals for the North East on the day,
came in the Under 15 Boys event, where Middlesbrough AC were dominant.
