This morning a group of runners from different training groups met at the hut to travel to Simonside for an 11 mile mudfest, then the vanguard reported back that there was a whiteout after Heighley Gate, so the alternative of a 10 miler up the Font valley was opted for.
There were a few flurries of snow and it was generally cold, but that didn't detract from the enjoyment of the route. In fact Clare and Carol liked it so much they added their own little loop near the castle. The faster ones ran an extra couple of miles near Nunriding to keep them busy while the rest of us ran straight back to Mitford and then round Athey's Dene, before meeting again at the hut for flapjacks, shortbread and coffee. |
