George Lowry squeezed-in under 16 minutes to win the recent Durham City 5k on Thursday 16th July.
Combining closed roads, riverside running and a spectacular finish at Palace Green in Durham, the event is part of the Durham City Run Festival.
George crossed the finish line in 15m.59s, and a minute ahead of 2nd placed Will Jardine (Durham City) and 3rd placed Sam Jackson of Elvet.
Anna Pigford of Houghton won the women’s race (19m.08s).
In the 10k event, Morpeth Harrier Ian Armstrong (M50) finished in 52m.21s (588th).
Around 1700 took part in the 10k.
