This Friday 10th and Saturday 11th sees the annual English Schools Track and Field Championships, being held for the 95th occasion at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.
Amongst the Schools competing are Northumberland, and two lucky students from KEVI School, and also members of Morpeth Harriers & AC, have been selected to compete for the county at the event.
Junior Boy Mason Gaylor (pictured) will be taking part in the competition, running against stiff opposition over three heats, and a prospective final in the 800m.
Senior Girl Alexandria Hodgson (pictured) will be throwing her weight around in a Hammer competition, and this will be her third experience of the championships.
Mason has a personal best time of 2m02.65s over the distance and is optimistic of at least making it through to the final, a medal at the end of the day would be a much-prized bonus.
Alexandria in her case, will be competing in a final as of right, and hopes to have shaken off a recent illness to produce a medal.
She has a best throw of the 3k Hammer of 54.35m, which was achieved in May at Hexham, but recent illness has limited her competition.
At the end of May she threw 51.08m at Shildon and would love to get close to those figures this weekend.
Their club would like to offer best wishes to both athletes, and hope that they manage to return with rich rewards, and a feeling of success.
