Three athletes were in action at the annual Judith Temperton combined Under 16 and Under 18 Northern Athletics Inter Counties Track and Field Championships, held at Shildon 2000 Stadium on Monday 25th May, where hot and sunny conditions prevailed throughout the duration of the day.
They were all representing the North East Counties, who eventually finished second to championship holders Yorkshire, losing out by fifty-one points overall over the two genders and age groups.
In the Under 18 Women’s 3k Hammer competition, Alexandria Hodgson threw an excellent 51.08m, to win by a margin of just over three metres over her closest rival.
Under 16 Girl Sophie Pledger finished a very close second in the 300m, with a time of 41.73s.
In the Under 16 Boys 800m, Mason Gaylor finished second in a new personal best time of 2m02,72s.
