THREE MORPETH ATHLETES IN ACTION AT BRITISH ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS IN BIRMINGHAM, SCOTT BEATTIE NARROWLY MISSES OUT ON 5000m MEDAL

Three athletes from Morpeth Harriers were in action at the annual British Athletics Track and Field Championships, sponsored by Novuna, and held at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium over two days, on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June.

In the Men’s 1500m, Cameron Boyek, qualified for the Sunday final, by finishing fifth in his heat on the Saturday, posting a time of 3m45.49s, which emerged as the fifth fastest overall qualifying time.

On the Sunday, he returned to the arena to eventually finish seventh in a tough final, posting a time of 3m41.81s.

Another Morpeth Harrier in action on Saturday in the Stadium was Long Jumper Jack Roach.

Unfortunately, very windy conditions seriously affected Roach’s eventual performance, and he finished a disappointed fifth, with a best jump of 7.58m.

Morpeth’s Scott Beattie found himself just run out of a medal place in the Men’s 5000m on the Sunday, finishing a very close fourth in a time of 13m30.28s.
