"I woz reet chuffed tae git prizentid wi mi tankard last Satdi neet !" The 'do' at the Bridge Hotel, Santon Bridge, near Wasdale was great - really good atmosphere with the majority of the evening being conducted in very strong Lancastrian or Cumbrian accents ! The North East was definitely under represented - so if any over 50's fancy a bash at the JNC then the details are here; http://jossnaylor.blogspot.co.uk There were 17 new 'crossers' who completed the JNC this year and between us we raised just under £30,000 for a variety of charities. The tankards are sponsored by Jennings Brewery so we can all do our bit to make sure that continues in future !
During the evening a surprise presentation was made to Joss Naylor to mark the fact that earlier this year he completed his 50th Lake District Mountain Trial at the age of 81 ! He first took part in 1963, won it for the first time in 1966 and went on to win it a further 9 times and believe me this is one tough event ! The man is a real gentleman and an absolute legend ! Thanks to everyone at Morpeth Harriers who sponsored my fundraising and seriously if anyone is interested in learning more about the JNC or any other of the Lake District fell running challenges then just get in touch, Kevin Bray Comments are closed.
