Morpeth Harriers Senior Men compete in what is their biggest ever club event this Sunday 7th February 2016 in Kastamonu in Northern Turkey, on the edge of the Black Sea. They will be representing Great Britain in the European Champion Clubs Cup Cross Country Championship, which is being held on the Kadidagi Plateau, which sits on an altitude of 1100m. Carl Avery, Ross Floyd, Lewis Timmins, Ady Whitwam, Thomas Straughan and Sam Hancox will be the Morpeth Harriers team in action, with Club President Jim Alder going along as their Team Manager for the event. The squad travel to Istanbul on Friday, and they will head back to England next Tuesday after the event. Morpeth Harriers would like to thank all those who have backed them financially for the trip, and also thanks to Terry Lonergan of The Complete Runner for the provision of Track Suits and Club Vests for the occasion. Action gets underway in Turkey at 12.50 (Turkish Time) on Sunday, where they will compete over a seven lap 10k course. We will be reporting on this event on the website and we wish the squad all our best, and hope that they have success, and make their nation proud.

Good luck to the team hope you do yourselves and the club proud although you already have by achieving qualification 2/2/2016 10:45:52 am
Thanks for your words of encouragement Bob, the boys in blue and white are certainly up for it, hopefully conditions will work out for them, like what you say, they have thoroughly achieved by their qualification, having spoken to four of them, plus Jim last night, I think a good result is distinctly possible.

Good luck and have a fantastic trip. My suitcase is packed if there are any late withdrawals. 2/2/2016 04:41:52 pm
Hi Paul, Thanks for your words of support, much appreciated, they will be up against some tough Kenyan opposition, but they are certainly in the mood to do battle, and with Jim in charge they won't go wrong, at the end of the day, the whole club can share the pride that we have qualified by right to be there.
