Four athletes from Morpeth Harriers took part in the fourth meeting in the series of Indoor Standards fixtures,
organised by Gateshead Harriers, and held at Gateshead College, on the evening of Thursday 8th February 2018. One of them was Harriet Priest, who was making a competitive comeback, following a whole year out with injury during 2017. Priest’s last appearance had been at the North East Pentathlon Championships at Jarrow in September 2016, where she had finished sixth in the competition, in her Under 17 Women’s age group. Now she faces her competition at Under 20 Women’s level, which is certainly going to be tough for her, both physically and mentally. Nevertheless, on Thursday she put herself on the start line for the 60m Hurdles, where she posted a time of 10.89s. The other Morpeth Harriers in action were Under 15 Girls Amy Lott, Alice Geoghegan, and Mia Belton. In the 60m Hurdles Lott posted 9.51s, which was second fastest in her age group, and marked a slight new personal best for her going into the North Eastern Championships next weekend. Geoghegan posted a time of 10.73s, which was fourth fastest in her age group, and marked a new personal best performance. The pair also competed in the flat 60m sometime later. Lott was equal fastest in her age group when she posted 8.54s, and Geoghegan was sixth fastest with 8.64s, which was very much equal to her best performance in 2017. Another Morpeth Harrier competing in the 60m was Mia Belton, who seventh fastest with 8.66s. Comments are closed.
