Morpeth Harrier Craig Charlton continued his excellent start to his 2019 outdoor campaign, when he produced another lifetime personal best of 15.25m, to comfortably win the Senior Men’s Shot Putt competition at the annual Gateshead Harriers Open Medal Meeting, held at a chilly Gateshead Stadium on Sunday 14th April 2019.
The previous week, Charlton had set new figures of 15.03m in the annual Kieran Maxwell Memorial Open Meeting at Middlesbrough, and to further improve by another twelve centimetres, and so early in the season, and especially in such unseasonal conditions, is extremely encouraging for the Paul Reed coached athlete, and there are good things predicted for the forthcoming season. Another Morpeth Harrier in action at the meeting was Bobbie Griffiths, who won the Junior Women’s Javelin, by throwing an on the day best of 35.58m, which is still some way off her best at this stage of proceedings.

Great start from Craig. Possible Scotland International vest this summer. For the record I don't coach Craig anymore (only Ruaridh Lang) but will always remain interested in his performances. Comments are closed.
