The club are very sad to learn of the death of former member Len Millership, at the age of 68.
Len had been a very prolific distance runner with the club during the late 70’s and early 80’s and had featured in many of our team successes during that period, and competed in many high-profile events, including several Morpeth to Newcastle Road Races. In the late 80’s, Len became one of the clubs Middle-Distance Group Leaders, and helped guide many aspiring runners to individual success. By nature, Len could easily be described as one of the sports “hardmen,” and it was this attribute that endeared him to his fellow club colleagues and training partners, in that if he was on an event start line, he was very much a man to be feared. Outside of this, he was very much a gentleman who enjoyed good company, and conversation, which made him immensely popular, and long training runs alongside him were inevitably eventful to say the least. At this very sad time, the club would like to offer very sincere condolences to his close family, and share their loss. Len’s Funeral Service is at St James Church in Morpeth on Wednesday 21st February 2018 at 11.15am, which will be followed by a Private Cremation at West Road Crematorium in Newcastle. Family Flowers Only, donations if desired, to go to Alzheimer’s Research UK Comments are closed.
