Ten Morpeth Harriers took part in the annual Les Allcorn Memorial 10k, held in the grounds of leafy Hulne Park in Alnwick, on the evening of Tuesday 2nd May 2017. First to finish for the club, behind event winner Abraham Tewelde of Saltwell Harriers, who won by a margin of slightly over two minutes, was Mark Snowball, who finished third, and posted a finishing time of 34m21s, only seven seconds adrift of second placed David Milne, of the host club Alnwick Harriers. Morpeth Harriers did have a winner however in Veteran Woman Jane Hodgson, who finished ninth overall, posting a time of 38m02s, which saw her finish eighty-three seconds clear of second placed Woman Rachel Falloon, of Alnwick Harriers, who finished thirteenth overall. Third place in the Women’s race went to Morpeth Harrier Helen King, who was also second Veteran behind Hodgson, finishing 33rd overall, and posting a time of 43m33s. Other Morpeth Harriers finishers in the 10k event were Alex Zeller (35th) 43m42s, Hamish McAllister-Williams (54th) (5th O/50 Man) 45m23s, Jane Briggs (56th) (12th Woman) (2nd O/45 Woman) 45m38s, Norman Clark (65th) (5th O/60 Man) 47m33s, Carol Parry (101st) (5th O/45 Woman) 52m41s, Susan Smith (122nd) (10th O/45 Woman) 57m15s, and Claire Hiscock (123rd) (15th O/35 Woman) 57m15s. The combined performances of Hodgson, King and Briggs, brought Morpeth Harriers an excellent Woman’s Team Victory, and Parry, Smith and Hiscock, also produced excellent runs. A total of 140 finishers competed in the 10k event. The Les Allcorn Junior Fun Run The Les Allcorn Junior Fun Run, was won for the second year in succession by newly crowned Ashington Triathlon Under 20 Champion Daniel Dixon of Morpeth Harriers. Dixon crossed the finish line in 10m57s, winning by a margin of twelve seconds, from Alnwick Harrier Owen Willcox, with his club colleague Daniel Harrison-Frater, a further four seconds adrift in third place, who was first Under 17 Man. Next home for Morpeth Harriers was Under 13 Boy James Tilley, who finished thirteenth overall in 11m58s, and he was third to finish in his age category. Other Morpeth Harriers finishers in the event were, Callum Rowell (19th) (5th U/13 Boy) 12m31s, Harry Jackson (21st) (6th U/13 Boy) 12m37s, Joe Dixon (67th) (14th U/13 Boy) 16m50s, and Ellie Wickens (72nd) (11th U/13 Girl) 17m07s. A total of 81 finishers took part in the Junior Fun Run,
