Running one of the fastest ever times on the current Morpeth Harriers Young Athletes Championship
course on Lancaster Park, gave Daniel Dixon an excellent victory in the Under 15 Boys event on the evening of Monday 3rd October 2016. Dixon completed the approximately 1,3mile circuit in a superb 7m03s, to take the Gold Medal by a margin of seventeen seconds from Ross Charlton, who took Silver, with Daniel Melling claiming the Bronze medal in 7m40s. Not only was the excellent time welcome for Dixon, the win was also, as for the past two years he had finished in second place on both occasions, and the victory was a very timely boost. The Under 15 Girls event, run over the same circuit, was won by Holly Peck, who posted a time of 8m09s, which was ten seconds faster than her 2015 victory in the Under 13 Girls event, and it also meant that Peck had won Gold Championship medals in all three age groups she has run in since joining her club, a unique record in itself. Second place, and a Silver Medal went to Ellie Coxon, who finished in a time of 8m24s. Third place, and a Bronze medal went to Lily Heaton, who clocked 8m59s. Other Results were as follows BOYS Thomas Cunningham (4th) 7m45s, Brad Brown (5th) 8m21s, Louis Eke (6th) 8m31s, Sam Bradley (7th) 8m37s, Arran Kirk (8th) 9m11s, Oliver Herford (9th) 9m14s, Leo Phillip (10th) 9m24s, Joseph Miley (11th) 10m18s, Sam Gowland (12th) 10m30s.
