Windy, but relatively dry conditions were faced by the 32 runners who lined up in the first of the
2017 events in the series of Morpeth Harriers Young Athletes Road Championships, which were held on the usual 1.33mile circuit of Lancaster Park, on the evening of Monday 2nd October 2017. 27 competed in the Under 13 Boys event, and 5 competed in the Under 13 Girls event, which were won respectively by Ryan Davies and Sophia Cunningham. Trophies and medals will be presented at a special night, being held at Bar Luga in Morpeth at the end of November. Posting a finishing time of 8m17s, Davies won by a margin of seven seconds from Samuel Tate, who will receive a Silver Medal, and Oliver Bruce came through to take third place and a Bronze Medal in 8m33s.
