Neil Black, the former performance director of UK Athletics,
and former Morpeth Harrier has passed away suddenly at the age of 60. The news was confirmed on Tuesday21st April 2020 through a statement from Black’s family. It is believed he died of natural causes at his home near Loughborough. The statement read: ‘We would like to thank people for the wonderful and heartfelt messages we have received. So many people have been in touch, it is clear to us how loved Neil was and this is bringing us some comfort at this time.’ 21/4/2020 02:48:56 pm
Spent time in Portugal with Neil in the 80s training! Nice guy and talented runner! Very Sad loss at a young age of 60. Thoughts go out to his family

Incredibly sad News, looked up to Niel as a Junior runner for Morpeth in the late 70s early 80s. Last saw him in 82 when he beat Steve Cram on cinder at an evening meet in Jarrow, Jim was somewhat excited! Such a nice, fun and down to earth guy. RIP Niel. Comments are closed.
