Five Morpeth Harriers took part in the annual Saltwell 10k Road Race,
held in Gateshead’s Saltwell Park on Saturday 17th December. The event was won by Abraham Tewelde of the host club Saltwell Harriers, who posted a finishing time of 31m55s, which saw him win by a comfortable margin of forty-seven seconds from Tyne Bridge Harrier Finn Brodie, with Gateshead Harrier Conrad Franks a further seventeen seconds adrift in third place. First home for Morpeth, and making his club debut was Dave Richardson, who finished fifteenth in 35m06s. Second home for Morpeth was Steve Patterson, who finished in 22nd place overall as 18th Man, posting a time of 36m42s. The clubs other three finishers were all from their Female category. Josie Cram finished 38th in 39m09s, and was fourth Female behind Aly Dixon of Sunderland Strollers, who was 18th overall in 35m50s. As Dixon is a Veteran, Cram was declared as third Senior Woman. Morpeth Harriers other two finishers were Jacinta Wake and Sue Smith, who were 272nd and 273rd in 53m00s, and 53m01s. They were also respectively 3rd and 4th in the Over 50 Veteran Women’s section.
