Representing Scotland, Catriona MacDonald finished 48th overall and 8th woman in Saturday’s Snowdon International Mountain Race.
The gruelling 10 mile up and down course, which starts from Llanberis and rises 850m to the highest summit in Wales, attracted a field of 450. With the heat adding further to the challenge this year, the runners also have to weave their way up through the many walkers, while avoiding them on the way down. With a time of 1:27:15, Catriona finished 3rd counter and helped the Scotland Senior Women’s team to 2nd Place in the Women’s Elite race, finishing behind a strong English team led by the Women’s winner, Hannah Russell (1:18:47). The 47th running of this event was the first time it had been on in 3 years. Ross Gollan (Scotland) was the first over the line, finishing in a time of 1:09:21 from Luca Merli of Italy and Nathan Edmonson (Ilkley). England also won the Men’s Elite team title. Congratulations to Cat who continues to make the hills her home.
