What is 'Running the 3 Dees ' ?
In a' Nutshell '  - 3 days of running / walking (when necessary ) up the Dees around Balmoral .
The 3 days start on the Friday afternoon with 10miles /1000ft of climbing up Glen Quoich near Braemar.
Saturday is the 'big one' , 19/20 miles /3000ft of climbing , 5 Munros  including Lochnagar all in the Balmoral estate .
Finishing off on the Sunday morning with an easy 7/8 mile / 1000ft of climbing on the Glen Tanar Estate .

We had a group of 8   - (4 from the Netherlands and 4 from the Uk ) and 2 guides .
The guides not only looked after the route but also informed us about the area including a crashed Canberra bomber , which of course we had to investigate .
The pace was easy , with the usual stops for food and photos of the spectacular scenery .
Staying at the Glen Lui Hotel Ballater we enjoyed superb food and views, with a number of the party unable to resist tasting a number of whiskies from the family run hotel's extensive stock.
The guides were pleased that we were blessed with good weather , as the recent summer in the Cairngorms has been the worst for a long time .

The 3 days were organised by 'Running the Highlands' which was set up by Neil and Emma Stewart , a number of years ago . Why not check out their website  Running the Highlands - 'holidays for people that run '.
Including Training Weekends ( with an impressive list of past speakers ), Running Tours , Running Packages etc

       Why go ?
For a fantastic , enjoyable running experience.
If you have not been to the Cairngorms - you should - miles of peaceful trails/paths in some of the highest Mountains in the country and on a good day views for miles !

I will be heading back in November for the training weekend and will staying at Balmoral .
Not only will the running be great but so too the  inspirational / informative talks , exceptional food and the socialising .
Returning with renewed fitness and motivation !
