The Kielder Marathon is described as 'Britain's most beautiful marathon ' and having completed the 26.2miles - certainly agree. There is nowhere near the number of participants or crowds that you get in the big city marathons but it is certainly a marathon that should be on every runner's list. the scenery is spectacular. The volunteers were amazing - encouraging you at every water station and the pockets of crowds provided great encouragement between the long stretches of quiet trails . This year, the conditions were near perfect . No wind, dry and even some sunshine as the race got underway. It was certainly hilly . It is not going to be a fast marathon to complete .My aims were to finish (smiling) and to raise some money for the charity Anglican International Development . I certainly feel I was able to do both . Would I recommend it ? - definitely ! Kate Chapman |
